I participated the third time in this wonderful race that annually
attracts more and more runners, thanks to the organizational skills of
the director of Sands Beach Resort who prepared everything in detail.
This year, because of the road works and other type of reconstruction of
the island's roads, the route was completely different, more difficult
but very interesting, starting at the Cactus Garden. Finally, the entry
could be done easily online using a credit card, perhaps because the
runners were more than double that last year. It is a race not to be
missed for those who want to combine running a holiday relax. To note
the negative long queue after the arrival to pick up the chip and a 20
euro deposit.

The second year in a row I returned to run this very nice race, which is
always organized with a great enthusiasm and with a great turnout of
tourists, who give themselves a day of sport and a feast during the
holidays, not only the beach and the sun. Unlike the last year the route
was doubled, and the start was moved to the Sand Beach Hotel. I think it
was not publicized well in the surrounding villages, as when I was
running from Costa Teguise to Arrecife there was nobody along the road
and I ran completely alone about 4 or
5 km
surrounded by a surrealistic silence broken only by the impressive sound
of the sea and wind. As usual everything was organized very well, the
supplies were sufficient during the race and after and heat was not very
disturbing. A T-shirt and a medal for all finishers, see you next year!
Details of my race
Costa Teguise (Lanzarote), December 4th, 2011 9:00 am Half
Marathon

The Half Marathon of Teguise was organized only four days after the
Vuelta de Tindayo but despite the tiredness I could not resist the
temptation to join the race. The route was about 10 km long and it led along the streets of Costa
Teguise, a very touristic part of the island and more than a half of it
was the waterfront, so the main difficulty was to fight against the wind
which was very strong. Of course, my only goal was to arrive at the
finish, because I had already run the previous race and my final time
was 7 minutes longer than my result in the Tindayo. The vast
participation of Spanish runners and a big number of tourists applauding
the participants made it a special day that gave a different experience
than the normal tourist life in this part of the island. The T-shirt
which I was given was very nice and also the usual medal along with many
things to eat and drink after the race for all those who had finished
the race. One strange thing, that despite the chip I do not result in
the rankings of the race.
